Crochet a yummy carrot or two for the little home chef, or why not for a favourite hobby horse? Follow the crochet pattern below to make vegetables for the play kitchen and pretend stable.
How to make crocheted carrots:
Start by using the orange yarn to make a magic ring.
R 1: Crochet 3 dc around the magic ring.
R 2: Crochet 2 dc in each st. You now have 6 st.
R 3: Crochet 1 dc in each st.
R 4: Crochet *2 dc in the next st, 1 dc*, repeat *–* 3 times. You now have 9 st.
R 5–6: Crochet 1 dc in each st.
R 7: Crochet *2 dc in the next st, 2 dc*, repeat *–* 3 times. You now have 12 st.
R 8–9: Crochet 1 dc in each st.
R 10: Crochet *2 dc in the next st, 3 dc*, repeat *–* 3 times. You now have 15 st.
R 11–12: Crochet 1 dc in each st.
R 13: Crochet *2 dc in the next st, 4 dc*, repeat *–* 3 times. You now have 18 st.
R 14–15: Crochet 1 dc in each st.
R 16: Crochet *2 dc in the next st, 5 dc*, repeat *–* 3 times. You now have 21 st.
R 17–18: Crochet 1 dc in each st.
R 19: Crochet *2 dc in the next st, 6 dc*, repeat *–* 3 times. You now have 24 st.
R 20–21: Crochet 1 dc in each st.
R 22: Crochet *2 dc in the next st, 7 dc*, repeat *–* 3 times. You now have 27 st.
R 23–27: Crochet 1 dc in each st.
R 28: Crochet *2 st together with 1 dc, 3 dc*, repeat *–* 5 times. You now have 22 st.
R 29: Crochet *2 st together with 1 dc, 3 dc*, repeat *–* 4 times. You now have 18 st.
Fill the carrot with some wadding.
R 30: Crochet *2 st together with 1 dc, 2 dc*, repeat *–* 4 times, 2 dc, 1 sc.
Sew up the top and cut off the thread.
Change to green yarn and crochet 10 strings, 20–30 cm, with ch. Bundle the 10 strings together and sew on as greens at the top of the carrots.
