This year, our Halloween party has a creepy wedding theme, and so does the cake, which we covered with purple sugarpaste. We used various fruits for decoration, including dried orange slices; orange contrasts nicely with purple. Physalis husks become incredibly gruesome with rolled sugarpaste eyes inside, and branches from grape clusters dipped in dark chocolate look very striking beneath them. We also added little sugar eyes to some of the branches. When working with tiered cakes, it can sometimes be challenging to create a nice finish. Here, we've concealed the seams with a decorative stripe of white skulls between each tier. Topping this masterpiece is the bride; you can make her with sugarpaste and a little patience. The grave is made out of biscuits mixed with leftover chocolate from dipping the branches. Everything is attached to the cake with edible glue or buttercream.
