Paint the sides of the wooden hanger knobs black. Let dry.
Take 3 or 4 colours of matt acrylic paint and pour each one into its own paper cup along with pouring medium. Mix 1 part paint with 2 parts pouring medium. Blend in a few drops of silicone oil to create cell effects if you like.
Add a few drops of water to each cup and stir until the paint is thin enough to drip off the mixing stick.
Pour one colour after the next in rounds into a new, clean paper cup.
Pour the paint over the wooden hanger knobs. Let the paint drip down over the entire surface and over the edges. Scrape any paint off the underside of the hanger knobs, then move them to a clean surface to dry for 24 hours.
Use Glazing Resin to give the painted wooden hanger knobs a smooth, glassy surface. Read the product instructions carefully first. Wear protective gloves and blend the resin thoroughly according to the instructions for at least 5 minutes (otherwise, it may not set).
Pour the resin over the painted wooden hanger knobs. Choose whether you want the resin to be on the top of the hanger knobs only, or if you want it to drip over the edges. Spread the resin with a clean brush, if needed.
Scrape any drops of resin off the underside of the hanger knobs and move them to a clean surface. Allow to harden overnight. Insert the screws and the hanger knobs are ready to be mounted!
Use acrylic pouring and a resin glaze to give ordinary wooden hanger knobs extraordinary effects. Hanger knobs decorated with poured paint will become artwork on your walls, or fabulous accents on a chest or cupboard. Remember to protect your entire work surface with plastic before you begin. Water droplets could dull the resin, so avoid mounting the hanger knobs in a damp interior like a bathroom.
