Use a thin makeup brush and black lipstick to apply a sooty look around the eyes.
Dip the brush in water to moisten the red cake of paint. Then paint blood-red points under and over the eyes. Paint a red nose and mouth. Draw the corners of the mouth into an extra wide clown grin.
Make four big red yarn balls with the pompom tool.
Put the hair in two pigtails and spray with red hairspray. Attach one yarn ball to each pigtail.
Attach two yarn balls to the front of a dress or blouse to make buttons.
Make a clown collar: Cut two approx. 140 x 30 cm pieces of tulle. Fold the pieces of tulle in half so that they are 15 cm wide. Put the pieces together, creating four layers of tulle. Sew gathering threads at the folds. Hand-sewing is simplest, but you can also use a sewing machine. Pull on the threads until the collar is the right size for the child. Cut a piece of red ribbon (1 to 1.5 metres long) to tie the collar with a bow at the neck. Fold the ribbon in half lengthwise, all the way across, and press the fold. Sew the tulle collar into the ribbon.
Welcome to the circus, and say hello to the star - the clown! If you dare, that is ... With a simple face painting, some yarn balls and a tulle collar, you can make a truly charming and somewhat scary Halloween costume. Pair the clown makeup with a ruffled skirt or another garment with a few frills and pizazz, and you've got a clown costume. Trick or treat! The neighbours wouldn't dare keep treats away from this terrifying clown! Tip: Hold a piece of paper or something similar in front of the face to shield it while spraying the hair.
