Make a floral clay candlestick

How to instructions

  • 1

First, knead a piece of clay.

  • 2

Our candlestick base is about 6 cm in diameter.

  • 3

Press a candle holder into the centre of the base.

  • 4

Use a clay tool to cut out clay flower petals. Make 12 slightly larger petals. Carve lines in the petals.

  • 5

Press the flower petals into the base in two slightly overlapping layers.

  • 6

Make slightly smaller flower petals the same way as the bigger ones. Arrange the smaller petals between the bigger ones in two layers.

  • 7

Fold the petal tips here and there. Bend the last layer of petals up towards the candle holder.

  • 8

When it’s done, loosen the candlestick from the surface using a cutting tool.

  • 9

Place the candlestick on a few wooden sticks or a grate and let dry completely.

  • 10

Varnish the candlestick with Oceanlack if you want a slightly more durable finish.

Turn clay into a beautiful candle holder in the shape of a flower! The great thing about clay is that you can shape it into whatever you want – a water lily, a lotus, or maybe a flower of your own imagining? The clay is air-drying, which means it hardens by itself after 1 to 2 days. Remember to blow out candles when you leave the room.
