Knead a lump of clay until supple.
Flatten using your palms and fingers or a rolling pin to form a small plaque. The surface can be left slightly uneven.
For the sides, you can either smooth them or make a patterned border. Make a hole at the centre of the plaque if you want to insert a little sprig.
Make a hole at the top of the plaque so you can hang it up. Let the plaque dry fully for at least 48 hours.
Paint a nice motif on the plaque using craft gloss paint. Leave the paint to dry and seal with Oceanlack Varnish to protect the surface.
Air-dry clay is an amazing crafting medium. All you have to do is model your piece and then leave it to dry and self-harden. Here, we made three adorable plaques to hang on the wall in a group. We opted to paint all of our wall plaques, but you can also leave them unpainted and just carve patterns in them instead. Let your imagination run riot and paint or carve whatever you fancy!
