Paint abstract designs on dishes

How to instructions

  • 1

Wash and dry the dishes carefully before painting. Remember not to touch the surface to be painted with your fingers, because this may cause spots of grease that can prevent the paint from adhering well.

  • 2

Use a wide, flat brush on the dish to make brush strokes. Do not use too much paint on the brush, because it may begin to drip.

  • 3

Draw dots with the gold paint. For example, you can dip the end of the brush handle in some paint and then use it to paint dots.

  • 4

Last, spatter some black paint on the dish. Use a stiff brush or an old toothbrush dipped in a little paint. Then carefully run your finger over the brush so that the paint is spattered on the dish. Take care not to use too much paint, and test it out on another surface first. Protect clothing and the surrounding surfaces from paint.

  • 5

Let the porcelain paint dry for at least 24 hours. Then harden in an ordinary oven at 150°C for 35 minutes and let cool.

  • 6

After the paint has hardened, the dish is dishwasher safe at max 55-60°C. Do not soak the dish in water and do not let painted surfaces come into contact with food, because this may soften and loosen the paint.

Paint the prettiest bowls with porcelain paint! You don’t really have to be an artist to design your own dishes. With just a few simple brush strokes and some imagination, you can create your own unique set – perfect if you’ve found old cups and bowls at a flea market or if you’re ready to dust off the dishes at the back of your cupboard. Just keep in mind that porcelain paint may not come into contact with food; only paint the outside if you want to be able to serve food in the bowls.
