Carefully remove the little hanger from the ornament.
Place the ornament on a plant stake so that you have something to hold while you paint. Have a container or something else ready in which to place the stake while the ornament dries.
Paint the ornament with a coat of concrete paint. Let dry and add another coat of paint if you like. You can either leave the surface a bit rough or you can smooth it out as much as possible. Let dry overnight.
Replace the hanger.
Carefully sand the ornament with fine sandpaper. The surface will have a lighter finish in places that have been sanded. Be extra careful not to squeeze too hard if you are working with a glass ornament.
Tie a piece of ribbon or string to the ornament and hang it up in the tree.
