Prepare a sugar syrup: Combine sugar and water in a pot and cook until the sugar has completely dissolved.
Apply a frame of paper tape around a heavy piece of paper, if you want straight lines around your artwork.
Brush the sugar syrup onto the paper with a wide brush. Avoid the far edges of the paper, so that you can still pick it up.
Dot, spatter and drip watercolours using a soft brush to create beautiful effects.
Carefully remove the tape from your artwork once the paint is dry.
Let the kids try a fun new way to paint with watercolours! With ordinary cakes of watercolour paint, you can create awesome effects and incredibly beautiful works of art. Try out different colours and see what kinds of beautiful sugar paintings you can make. We recommend using slightly heavier watercolour paper, because thinner paper has a tendency to buckle when wet.
Sugar mixture is enough for 5-6 A4 drawings:
1 dl sugar
½ dl water
