Pre-mixed pouring paints– If you simply can't wait to start pouring, we now have pre-mixed, fabulous acrylic paints that are ready to be transformed into magnificent patterns in a hurry! This craft is one part modern art, one part DIY, one part groovy 1960s and the rest is all colour. We love it! These pre-mixed paints already contain pouring medium. Some people may want to add a little bit more silicone oil to achieve larger cells/flowing patterns, but otherwise, all you have to do is start! The paints come in 100 ml bottles and are wonderful starting points for pouring, or for stocking up if youve purchased one of our larger pouring sets.
For painting trays, stones, footstools etc.: Pour some paint into a paper mug or similar. Add a drop of silicone oil if needed, or water if you want to thin the paint. Repeat the process in separate mugs with each colour you want to use.
Then pour all colours into an empty mug, butdo not stir; simply pour the contents carefully over whatever you want to paint.
"Flip cup" for canvas: combine the paints according to the instructions above. Set down the mug. Place the face of the canvas on top of it, then flip everything over, so that the opening of the mug is face down on the canvas, maintaining contact with it. Now slide the mug upwards (it should still be 98% in contact with the canvas!) and let the paint flow out. Once the mug is empty, or once you are satisfied with the quantity of paint, turn the canvas this way and that, so that paint runs all over it. You can also "push" the paint around with a hairdryer after about a minute. Partly because you can make patterns, partly because it causes air bubbles to crack and form new "cells".
Let dry for 24-48 hours, depending on how thick the paint is.
Prop up the painted object so that it doesnt just soak in paint. And protect your work area carefully! We warmly recommend placing tarp/plastic on the floor/table and wearing durable clothing, especially if you are flipping full mugs of paint.
