Cream base: Make sure the cream on the cake is as smooth as possible before applying the cake picture. Because the edges may wrinkle, it can be a good idea to pipe cream along them. When the sugar paper comes into contact with the cream, it will soon become nice and soft. Remember that the sugar paper may start to dissolve and the image will disappear after about 4 hours on the cream.
Sugarpaste/marzipan base: If the picture is being placed on a cake covered with sugarpaste or marzipan, use gelatin under the sugar paper to soften it. Because sugarpaste and marzipan are dry products, they will not help soften the picture on the cake.
