Cut seven 20 cm long pieces of natural-colour cotton string.
Wrap light purple embroidery yarn tightly around the middle portion of one of the pieces of string. Then fold the string in half to join the two light purple ends together and secure the yarn.
Wrap dark purple embroidery yarn around the next piece of cotton string, and fold it around the light purple arch. Secure together with needle and thread.
Repeat step 3 with the colours blue, green, yellow, apricot and red until you have a complete rainbow.
Trim the cotton strings to about 2.5 cm long. Cut fringe at the ends.
String a wooden ball onto the key chain and sew in place at the top of the rainbow.
