The set is an excellent base or expansion of your palette from the rich colour range of the Van Gogh series. These tried and true paints with high lightfastness have been made by Royal Talens since 1963. The pastels are made from a blend of pigment, mineral oils and wax, for excellent colour and lightfastness. The consistency is soft but not fragile, which makes it easier to blend colours. The world of oil pastels is fun and easy to enter, and pastels offer tons of possibilities – you can easily smudge them with a finger, sponge, or brush. They can also be used in other ways: in layers for scraping techniques, in thick layers for impasto effects or diluted with turpentine for washes.
