Dylon Fabric dye, HAND-WASH fabric/textile dye - dye fabrics by hand, up to 250 g fabric. Dye a plain colour or with tie-dyeing techniques. Dylon hand dyes are perfect for small textile items, such as shorts, vests or socks, and for fine textiles that you would prefer not to put in the washing machine, such as wool and silk. For cotton, linen and viscose. Wool, silk and blends of polyester/cotton and polyester/viscose will end up with lighter shades. Not suitable for garments made of synthetic fibres such as polyester, acrylic or nylon – or for fabrics that have been specially treated/impregnated. Withstands washing at 40°C after dyeing. Instructions enclosed. Pack of 50 g.
Instructions: Weigh the dry fabric (max 250 grams) and pre-wash. Then dissolve Dylon fabric dye in 500 ml hot water, use gloves, and stir. Fill a stainless steel bowl/sink with 6 litres of 40 degree water and add 250 grams Dylon fabric dye salt and stir until dissolved. Carefully place the fabric into the dye and stir continuously for 15 minutes, and then occasionally for 45 minutes. Rinse in cold water and wash in hot water. Note that salt is not included in Dylon´s hand-dyeing kit and must be purchased separately.
Any dye remaining in the package should be taken to a recycling centre that handles hazardous waste. However, a small amount of leftover water used for dyeing can be rinsed down the drain.
